Rotary Day of Service
Each year, Rotary International promotes a Day of Service to uplift communities through hands-on involvement. The Granada Hills Rotary Club proudly supported three key events this year: the S.O.L.I.D. Pancake Breakfast, the launch of a new recreation center in San Fernando Gardens, and a community engagement event at CSUN.
Rose Parade Float Decorating
Rotary has a proud tradition of participating in the annual Rose Parade, showcasing its commitment to service and community. Each year, the Granada Hills Rotary Club joins in by signing up to help decorate the Rotary float, adding our touch to this iconic celebration.
Blanket Making for Kidney Patients
Kidney patients often feel cold during dialysis treatments, making warm blankets a comforting necessity. To help meet this need, the Granada Hills Rotary spearheaded a program to make 250 blankets, partnering with the Interact Clubs of Granada Hills Charter High School and César Chávez High School, along with the Granada Hills and Northridge Chambers of Commerce.
Sportsmanship Luncheon
Since 2014 the sportsmanship awards have been hosted by Kerry Nelson from Next Level Insurance Services. Designed to support youth sports, the Rotary Club of Granada Hills recognizes players with the Dot Richardson Award for leadership and sportsmanship from the Northridge Association of Girls Softball (NAGS). Each year Rotary has invited the player, both parents and team manager for each winner plus one representative (league President) to the Awards lunch.
Multicultural Fair
Eradicating polio remains a key global initiative of Rotary International. This year, Rotary District 5280 supported the cause through a community Walk and Multicultural Fair, raising awareness and funds to help end polio worldwide.
Christmas Tree Give-Away
In partnership with CD12 and the Ciccarelli family, the Granada Hills Rotary Club gives away 100 trees each year to families in the San Fernando Valley. This effort promotes environmental sustainability while bringing joy and greenery to the local community.
Food Packing
A total of 18,000 meal kits were packed for families in need across the San Fernando Valley. The Granada Hills Rotary organized the effort, bringing together 80 volunteers—including members from neighboring Rotary Clubs such as Woodland Hills, Greater Valley, Calabasas, WHRC, GRVRC, Calabasas RC, Burbank Sunrise, Hollywood, Glendale Sunrise, Burbank Noon, and Rotaract—to make a meaningful impact in the community.
